Halloween Toffee Apple Slices

A Jane Hollingsworth recipe

 

Ingredients 

  • Apples
  • 1 lb demerrera sugar
  • 2 oz butter
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1/2 pint water
  • squirt golden syrup

 

Method

 

  • Mix the sugar, butter, water and vinegar in a pan and heat until the sugar has dissolve
  • Boil rapidly until temperature reaches 290 degrees celcius
  • Give it 5 minutes and then take off the heat 
  • Cut up the apple, dip in lemon juice to stop it going brown quickly
  • Pop onto a cocktail stick and wipe around the pan, covering the apple slice in the toffee
