Cases of bird flu confirmed in Rutland

Dead wild birds were discovered a week ago - they've now been found to have caught the H5N6 strain.

Cases of bird flu have been confirmed in Rutland.

Several dead wild birds were discovered to the North of the County around a week ago.

They were found to have the H5N6 strain of the virus.

No other cases of bird flu have been reported in the county since their discovery a week ago.

Anyone who keeps birds whether commercially or as pets are being told to take precautions with details on the DEFRA or County Council website.
