It aims to reduce delays for patients - while cutting the pressure on staff.

East Midlands Ambulance Service has launched a new scheme, which aims to reduce delays for patients - while cutting the pressure on staff.

100 Urgent Care Assistants join the front-line, along with 2 urgent care dispatchers and an urgent care clinical adviser.

They're not trained to drive on blue-lights - so will will focus on low priority and non-life threatening calls - freeing up A&E ambulances.
