Former Melton choirmaster jailed for historic sex offences

A former Melton choirmaster who abused his position to sexually assault children has been jailed for 8 years.

The historic abuse took place during the 1970s and 1980s while 81 year old Robert Kalton was working at a church in Melton and at another in Wiltshire.

He was extradited from his home in Portugal to face trial.

He was unanimously convicted of attacks on multiple victims - one of the those who came forward to report the crime was 11 when he was first abused.
