Major Deepings roads in line for extra government funding

It's hoped 2 roads near Rutland will benefit from a new Government proposal to give extra cash for significant road improvements.

Ministers want to create a new category for major roads not currently managed by the national body Highways England.

England’s existing road network is managed by the Strategic Road Network (SRN - managed by Highways England) and Local Road Network (LRN).

Under government plans, the LRN will be replaced by the new Major Road Network (MRN) - with several Lincolnshire roads included.

The idea is to fund more projects which would reduce congestion.

Draft proposals would see both the local stretches of the A15 and A16 in this new category.
