Oliver Hemsley takes over as Rutland County Council leader

Oliver Hemsley is the new man in charge at Rutland County Council - after a vote elected him to the top job last night.

The new leader is Councillor Oliver Hemsley who had been acting leader since the departure of Tony Mathias last month.

A meeting yesterday evening saw him voted into the top job by councillors - there were 20 votes in favour of him taking over, with 2 abstentions.

His deputy will be Councillor Nick Begy - he's also joined the cabinet as Portfolio Holder for Planning Policy and Planning Operations, Highways & Transportation and Communications.
