Rutland will see a rise of almost 5% rise in Council Tax

A rise in Council Tax of almost 5% has been agreed by Rutland County Councillors.

The decision was made at meeting last night, with leaders arguing it'll help fill a £1.5 million hole left by Government cuts.

It means a Band D property faces an increase of £77 a year.

The money will be used for services such as social care, an expansion of Oakham Enterprise Park, £700,000 for special educational facilities and a roll out of superfast broadband.
