Stamford millstream to become heritage attraction

The Millstream has become stagnant and overgrown, having been cut off from the river

It'll become a heritage attraction

It's hoped Stamford millstream could be renovated to create a new heritage attraction.

The stream used to feed the Grade 1 listed Kings Mill, but work in the 1970s to feed Rutland Water saw it cut off from the River Welland.

Now the Welland Rivers Trust and Stamford Town Council are hoping to get funding to cut back trees as well as to dredge the waterway to return the flow.

Voting for the Aviva Community Fund opens today.
