Thousands of tons of grit ordered to keep Rutland roads safe

Tempratures have dropped to as low as -7 across Stamford and Rutland overnight, meaning thousands of tons more grit has been ordered to keep the roads safe.

Gritters in Rutland covered more than 480 miles and used 130 tonnes of salt in just 24 hours yesterday.

But say there is still plenty left to cover as freezing temperatures continue to hit the region.
