A WEEK TO THE TORCH – the Olympic torch comes through Langham, Oakham, Normanton to Whitwell across the reservoir, then Uppingham, Stamford and Burghley House from 2-6pm on Tuesday 3rd July. We'll be with it too, with stages at Rutland Water and Stamford.

JUST WEEKS NOW FROM THE OLYMPICS – and the world's biggest McDonalds is getting ready to open its doors, just yards from the Olympic Stadium. The new restaurant has seating for 1500 customers, and is half the size of an American football pitch, on 2 floors

WATER – a burst main under Sounding Bridge at Manton had the road is partially flooded, and people in parts of Oakham woke up to no water, as it's the main pipe from Wing treatment works. Also a burst on Braunston Road by Balmoral Road last night has affected parts of town. Severn Trent have now got everyone back on

EVER WONDERED WHAT THEY DO WITH YOUR CLUBCARD INFO? – Tesco is personalising its website, and if you like a bargain, you'll see their value range, whilst more extravagant customers will see their luxury items

HALF OF MISBEHAVING STUDENTS NOT SENT TO THE HEAD – it used to be the ultimate sanction, but according to a survey up to half of teachers never use it, saying they fear the reprisals from pupils and their parents that might blight their careers

SHOW OFF YOUR FACIAL HAIR – the annual beard and moustache competition has been held in Los Angeles, and attracted many men and women from across the country. It's a fundraiser for a charity that helps terminally ill children. Topical tune with West St Garage, Stamford?  I played You're So Vain by Carly Simon, as suggested by Frank from Oakham

ON THE ROAD – been to Stamford today. Want some free Croft Bakery cakes? Let me know
