Stamford & Rutland schools are back after a week off, if you go to school at Barnack, Wittering, Helpston or Glinton you have this week away from school
SCHOOLTALK - returns this week, as Edith Weston are back in. Clues to a famous person each day at 7.40am
HICCUPS - am I unique that I sometimes get Hiccups when shaving? My theory is I either tense or catch my Adam's Apple with the razor. I spent most of the first hour of the show this morning trying to get rid of it. I thought it nice to shave as we're presenting the cheque to the Rutland Rotaract Family Support Centre with proceeds from the Sky Calendar - well over £600!
SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND - Heating. Most of Stamford & Rutland seem relaxed about clicking the central heating button, with 97% having their heating on for more than a couple of hours in the cold weather. The remainder of the votes went to having the heating on for an hour or two - mind you, we're not counting if you have a fire you use instead.
JAFFA CAKES OR BISCUITS - they're always with the biscuits rather than cakes in the supermarket, but they are cakes according a test done to check whether extra tax is chargeable on them. Cakes go hard when left out, biscuits go soft. You don't pay extra duty on cakes due to their limited shelf life apparently, but Jaffa Cakes last a while don't they? A couple of weeks ago, Hambleton Bakery created the largest Jaffa Cake ever created - 124cm across, weighing 50kg and containing 120 eggs and 30m litres of jelly when Bake Off winner from the other side of Uppingham Frances Quinn was tasked with creating it for a TV programme. Why didn't I know this at the time - I'd have loved to see, smell and possibly even taste it! (pic - Hambleton Bakery)
ALL 196 COUNTRIES VISITED IN 18 MONTHS - American Cassie De Pecol set a new record for the time taken, it took £170,000, most of it donated by sponsors. Just imagine all the stories, photos, and maybe even postcards!
BABY SHOWER - Mini Persani is set to arrive in just a few weeks now, a few of our friends held a Baby Shower for my wife yesterday, lots of games, quizzes and cake on a baby theme. When I went along to pick her up, I spent half an hour entertaining a five month old little boy who was there with his Mummy. Absolutely loved it!
MYSTERY VOICE - worth £60 - it's not Jamie Oliver. More with Lydia after 5pm.
SSYT SCRATCH PERFORMANCE - tonight at Stamford Arts Centre the students will be giving their first 'scratch' performance at Stamford Arts Centre of their play for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Contact the Arts Centre if you'd like to go.
GOOD & NEW CLOTHES SALES - the Men's one is this Friday and Saturday, Trish Ruddle is dropping in to tell us more about it, and how For Rutland helps Citizens Advice in the county, in the next day or two. The big sale at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel majoring on ladies clothes is on 3rd and 4th March.
