THE GREATEST INVENTION - according to a survey for English Heritage, puts the wheel at No 1 sensibly, and the tea bag at No 10.  The rest of the most voted for, from No 2 to No 9 is Fridge, Sewers, The Plough, Penicillin, Internet, Armour, Light bulbs and the Clock.  What do you think is the greatest of those, and any other you can't live without?

IN BLOOM - Bloomin roadworks is underway with Oakham In Bloom, look out for traffic cone planters around the town, certainly around the passages like Church Passage and High Street areas.  Uppingham is also looking great with planting around town, on Ayston Road, the Market Place and Uppingham School areas.  Talking of flowers, roses are getting bigger heads and strawberries are early this year, hopefully lasting till Wimbledon...

RUTLAND CLIMBING CLUB - as part of This Girl Can week with Active Rutland, it's hoped a climbing club can be formed in the county, if you're interested, head to the Rock Blok at Whitwell tonight 6-8pm
