Saturday, February 22nd
Second Helpings Stamford are holding their Annual General Meeting on 22 February at 2pm at Barn Hill Methodist Church.
As well as the usual dull, but necessary, election of officers and presentation of accounts, there's a chance to find out what's been happening behind the scenes and to also ask any burning questions.
The meeting is open to all.
You can stand for the committee, or just sit and listen to a series of presentations on how a team of volunteers have helped save 100 tonnes of potential food waste from going into landfill.
Second Helpings runs a busy community cafe each Saturday, plus the Bunker and Community Fridge which is open on a 24/7 basis, with customers donating on a Pay-As-You-Feel basis.
To round off the afternoon, representatives of three local charities will be bidding, 'Dragons' Den' style, for a donation of £1,000.
Those invited to present are all charities which echo the values of Second Helpings, helping people across the areas of homelessness, mental health and support for older people.
Steven Pettican – Chief Executive Officer, Light Project – Peterborough
Dr Dan Petrie – Founder; and Helen Howe – Chair of Trustees, MindSpace
Louise Marsh – Chief Executive Officer, Evergreen Care Trust
The choice of who will receive the £1,000 will be in the hands of everyone present. There will be a simple vote and at the end of the meeting the winner will be announced.
