Chocolate Easter Nests
These are an absolute must for an Easter treat and popular with all ages. However, they disappear so quickly you may have to make a double batch.
2 tbsp golden syrup
2 tbsp cocoa powder
4/5 large shredded wheat
mini sugar coated Easter eggs
1. In a large saucepan gently melt the butter with the golden syrup. Remove from the heat and add the cocoa powder stir well until the mixture is smooth.
2. Crumble the shredded wheat add 4 possibly 5 to the mixture, stir well until completely covered with the chocolate.
3. Place spoonfuls of the mixture onto a baking tray covered with non- stick paper. The nests can be as large or as small as you like, but a dessertspoonful makes a good size nest. Make a little indent in the middle of each nest and place a mini egg in the centre.
4. Leave until completely cool and set before serving, they will keep for several days in an airtight container – if you hide them!
