Tourism sector in Stamford and Rutland welcomes Chancellor's announcement

A range of measures were announced yesterday

Many businesses and the tourism sector in Stamford and Rutland have welcomed the Chancellor's statement yesterday designed to get the economy back up and running.

Rishi Sunak announced a 30 billion pound boost.

VAT is being cut from 20 percent to 5 for restaurants and hotels whilst diners will be given money off their meals on certain days in August to encourage more people onto the high street.

Firms will also be given 1 thousand pounds for every furloughed worker they keep in their job.

But Some sectors including airlines and gyms are complaining the chancellor has ignored them in his coronavirus recovery plan.

The Federation of small businesses in Lincolnshire feels it's largely good news for the area saying it could really help the region's  tourism, hospitality and agricultural sectors, although there are some questions about exactly how it'll work.
