W/C MONDAY 14TH AUGUST
LIFE TIP - I had my family and friends round at the weekend, there were 11 of us. I'm always worried if there will be enough buffet food so I cooked a couple of pizzas and did a criss-cross diamond cut rather than slices meaning the pizza goes further and they feel like they're having more!
HORSING ABOUT AGAIN - Burghley Horse Trials aren't too far away now, the first weekend of September. I chatted to event director Liz Inman about what to expect to see at Burghley. She mentioned the Musto Mare, a simulator of what it's like to ride the Burghley course definitely need to have a go it'll be a change to what i'm used to when i go horse riding - the horse i ride definitely not a show jumper bless him.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS - A huge congratulations to the special olympics east midlands squad - Abbie Gray, Sophie Garfoot, Chris Southwell, Sam Burton, Joshua Darlington and Edward Sowter. Collectively they've bought home 2 gold medals, 2 bronze medals, 2 4th lace ribbons and 3 5th place ribbons.
WHAT'S YOUR FLAVOUR? - Walkers crisps are getting rid of a classic flavour to make way for a new one. Salt and Vinegar, Prawn Cocktail and Smoky Bacon are all in danger! So on the Rutland Radio polls...
27% would ditch salt and vinegar
36& would ditch prawn cocktail
and 37% of you would ditch smoky bacon!
That's the answer i was hoping for, long live prawn cocktail and salt and vingear!!!
CUPPA AT CHURCH - I had the best panini for lunch, bacon brie and cranberry. It was really yummy and on my travels to get my panini I noticed that Oakham Congregational Church have a drop in centre every Wednesday from 10 - 4 - pop in if you fancy a natter and cuppa.
TAKE THE CAKE - I popped over to Stamford to see Judith and the team at Stamford Corn Exchange. Hope you enjoy your cakes! If you want some rr.co.uk and click on take the cake!
A LEVELS - I was out and about chatting to students who had just received their A Levels and I saw mostly happy faces. Well done to Dan at Casterton College, Ralph and Jasmine at New College Stamford to to Freya who's off to study medicine! It was also Harington School in Oakham's very first A Level results day, Head of School John Harrison was very proud as 2 students are off to Cambridge and Oxford.

SIX WEEKS OF SUMMER - So much fun broadcasting from the cycle shop at Whitwell, Rutland Water. Joseph was like spider man zoomed up the Rok Block, I faced my fear of heights on the high ropes, just glad to get it over with to be honest felt higher than I was expecting. We also got to toast marshmallows around the campfire and gave away lots of goodie bags. All of our photos are here: http://www.rutlandradio.co.uk/events/6-weeks-of-summer-on-rutland-radio/
Next week we'll be at Oakham soft play!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT - NCS Oakham group 1 (National Citizens Service) raised about £800 for Rutland Food Bank with all their fundraising including a sponsored bike ride around Rutland Water (the whole 26 miles) a raffle and a bake sale. The Food Bank are always looking for donations if you can help they are based on Melton Road, Oakham.
I'm doing the Park Run at Rutland Water, 5k (3 miles), let's see if I can actually do it! Of course it's also Bird Fair so Rob Persani will be popping along on Sunday.
