W/C 28th AUGUST
CLASSICAL CHARITY - Super sixteen year old soprano Katie Marshall and Lewis Mobbs, a twenty year old who also has a gorgeous classic voice are putting on a concert together to raise lots of money for Anthony Nolan, a blood cancer charity. They're both really excited about it and it's happening at Uppingham Church on 16th September, tickets available at Uppingham Sports and Books. More info in this week's podcast on our website!
CAR SHOW - So many classic cars on Stamford Meadow last weekend! It was the Stamford Round Table's Classic Car Show giving away our car stickers and car air fresheners which smell really good. They smell of apple, pretty refreshing. If you'd like one then next time you see us out and about then just ask us.
IT'S BACK, OH YES IT IS, OH NO IT'S NOT... - I know it's a bit early but I met the cast of Melton Theatre this week! They're performing Cinderella from 15th December. Steven Arnold aka Ashley Peacock is playing Dandini this year and he is also supporting the Phoebe Research Fund 5k run. They're still looking for runners - phoebe5k.org.uk to sign up!
IT'S BACK 2 - BAKE OFF - Most of us sat in anticipation on Tuesday night praying that The Great British Bake Off was still going to be good. To be fair, it is. They've managed to keep the format almost identical to when it was on the BBC but with ad breaks, new judges/presenters and no history parts. I think the Sandi Thom and Noel Fielding (presenter) need to loosen up a bit, not as charismatic as Mel and Sue and
*YOUNG STARS* - We're looking for youngsters that shine bright in the community! Those who go the extra mile in whatever they do, whether it's sports, arts or charity we want to give them recognition! If you know anyone who deserves a nomination for our Rutland Radio Young Star Awards then let us know: http://www.rutlandradio.co.uk/events/rutland-young-star-awards-2017/
PINFOLD LANE - I never knew there were two Pinfold Lanes in Stamford until I ended up on the wrong Pinfold Lane. I also learned that a Pinfold was a pen that people used to put run away animals in so that their owners could find them once they realised they were missing.
BURGHLEY - I love September because its the start of autumn, it's my birthday month (woo) and it's Burghley Horse Trials. It always makes me miss my horse riding days but even if you aren't into your horses great place to be. It's always buzzing, loads of stalls to have a snoop about and yummy food! Great for local businesses. We were there on Friday for our final six weeks of summer, broadcasting live from the event. I even got to meet Clare Balding for the first time who was super lovely. I'm going back over the weekend to have a proper look around and have a go on the Musto Mare simulator. Hear more on Monday!
